Environmental Geology - Core and Sample Library

In 1960, 18 oil and gas companies, along with state funding, donated the building and land that now houses the State Sample Library and the Environmental Geology Division. Today the State Sample Library contains cutting samples from 6743 wells and boxed/cataloged cores from 1000 wells with an additional 4300 core boxes not cataloged on site and 6000 core boxes in warehouse storage off site (Dockery, 2016). Estimated reacquisition cost of these cores and cuttings is approximately 3 billion dollars. This makes the collection irreplaceable and priceless.
